Nigeria Sets To Frown At Parents Who Fail To Enrol Their Wards In School

Nigeria is set to implement a policy to prosecute parents who fail to enrol school going-age-children in school.

This was made known by the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, while addressing journalists during the 9th edition of the weekend ministerial briefing.

Adamu pointed that parents who interfere with government’s efforts in reducing the number of out-of-school children would soon be made to face the wrath of the law.

“Unless the issue of parents who refused their children going to school is made a crime, and we start jailing parents, the measure of out-of-school children will not be resolved,” he said.

He further stressed that corruption at state government levels was among the bane of success in basic education efforts across the country.
