NIGERIA WE HAIL THEE

Hail, Hail, Hail, Nigeria

This is my country, this is my land

“I will build the roads”

“I will feed the poor”

Hail, Hail, Hail, Nigeria

Hail, Hail, Hail, Nigeria

This is my country this is my land

“I will boost the economy”

“I will restore the light”

Hail, Hail, Hail, Nigeria

Hail, Hail, Hail Nigeria

This is my country, this is my land

This is my home, this is my birthplace

This is my peace with chaos and war

The birth of a child is near,

the labour room is prepared

The eyes of the vultures watch patiently to feast on the child.

“Wait for ‘Twas not a child that was born”

What was born,

what is it?

Don’t you know?

Can’t you see?

Haven’t you heard?

Are the words that children sings as they play on the street.

The words of the old-wise

have been neglected

Nigeria was pregnant and has given birth

But ‘Twas not a child that was born

‘Twas tragedy, ‘Twas pain,

‘Twas death : The death of “THE GIANT OF AFRICA”

Hair, Hail, Hail, Nigeria

This is my country,

This is my land With failed promises

From politicians and corruption consuming us all.

‘Twas Nigeria that was pregnant,

‘Twas Nigeria that gave birth.

‘Twas corruption that Nigeria bore.

Hail, Hail, Hail, Nigeria

This is my country, this is my land. By: EKANEM PRISCA
